arche noVa — initiative for people in need is a religiously independent non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Dresden, Germany, working in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Our primary focus is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Further information about the organisation: www.arche-nova.org

Since 2016, arche noVa has been active in Ukraine, supporting the affected population in Donetska and Luhanska oblasts. With the full-scale war outbreak in February 2022, arche noVa has expanded its relief program in Ukraine, responding to the unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The war has shown no signs of abating and continues to drive increasing humanitarian needs across the country, affecting all spheres of life and uprooting millions of Ukrainians. It has resulted in civilian casualties that continue to grow and significant damage to infrastructure.

For the implementation of the arche noVa relief measures, we are looking for a MEAL Officer (national position)

Duration: until the 30th of April 2026, with the possibility of extension

Position to be filled: ASAP

Duty station: city of Kyiv with possible field trips

Contract: labour, with a two-month probation period

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining the established organisation`s M&E structures according to set indicators for the relief measures in alignment with humanitarian standards, Cluster guidance, and project objectives

• Ensuring the data collection throughout the project cycle to enable evidence-based programming, and that corrective actions are in place

• Contributing to accountability to the affected population by maintaining a transparent and effective feedback mechanism

• In close collaboration with the program team, monitoring compliance of the relief measures with target indicators to ensure the achievement of the project objectives and that the humanitarian standards are met

• Conducting regular checks and data verifications provided by the implementing partners

• Collaborating with the implementing partners' M&E departments to ensure effective monitoring systems and tools are in place

• Supporting the project team in planning, implementing and monitoring the projects, including budget

• Ensuring compliance with donors' guidelines, ache noVa`s internal regulations and relevant Ukrainian legislation

• Preparing regular M&E reports to be forwarded to the program management team, HQ and donors

• Maintaining effective working relations with local authorities, donors, partners, contractors and service providers

• Performing other relevant duties as and when required

Requirements:

• Degree in relevant fields or 3 years of demonstrated experience in data collection and project monitoring

• Solid knowledge of project cycle management

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a team

• Ability to work under stress

• Good command of Ukrainian and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory

• Strong self-organisational skills

• Readiness for regular field trips bearing security and access considerations foremost
